In light of recent events, it feels important for me to revisit OneSolution- what we saw and heard and felt there in terms of the power and potential of the principles to relieve human suffering and find a better way forward.
It’s easy (for me) to get lost in the story of what’s horrifying, appalling, inexplicably sad and forget the principles that underlie even that.

The individual human being is a microcosm of the world.
Looking and understanding Self first helps us understand what every other person in the world is up against. Whether we call them victims or terrorists or unacceptably flawed. As scary as they are to us, they are up against the same thing.
I often say in pilot training this should be the starting point of their curriculum. Because if we want safer pilots our best bet is- when he has a storm of thinking that makes it look like taking the plane with 150 passengers down with him is the best idea, he understands what is going on in his mind and isn’t victim of his own thinking.
When an individual has freedom of mind, every life that comes in contact with him benefits.
The same is true for every act of violence- organized or opportunistic, individual or mass. Our best bet is that more of the world understands that life works from the inside out and that there is freedom here for us all- already.
And if we knew we were free
Would we need to hurt, suppress or kill another?

Every single person I met at OneSolution had a story like this: they were hurting and found out they didn’t have to. In realizing they didn’t have to be hurting, they found better ways of living and serving.
For me each of these stories was a bright light pointing me to something universal- a human being who knows where peace, safety, security and freedom comes from naturally finds himself moving away from violence towards kindness.
We cannot reverse hack this process. We have tried.
We have tried to reward, bully or punish people into good behaviour and, like a wildly hormonal teenager full of rebellion we as a world have continued to find new ways to be hurtful and harmful.
Freedom cannot be learned by tyranny of any kind, and the perfect equality of all [people] cannot be recognized through dominion of one mind over another.
-A Course in Miracles
Laws, regulations and treaties are incredibly important band-aids to preserve and protect life & nature until people realize for themselves the capacity they have to to heal, serve and thrive independent of circumstances.
Individuals who have experienced for themselves the intelligence, kindness and potential of a human mind that is free from the grip of their own thinking:
In the long run,
Only that will change the world. Nothing less will do.
