A love note in response to all the women & girls at the Young Entrepreneurs Summit who shuffled their feet, looked nervously around and said “I don’t know what I want to do”, “I’m in transition, I guess”, “I should do something but…”
This is for all of you who are
To whom things look not quite so clear
The ground feels shaky
And the question “what do you do” hangs around
Like an unwelcome guest
Being in transition is one of those gifts that can look like burdens sometimes. We forget, many never have the opportunity to pause, reflect and choose a different path.
Wandering can be a time of great discovery.
Forced out of the expected routine of “you go to school, then you get a degree, then you get another degree, then you get a job, then you stay there until you want another one, then you get another one…”
Suddenly waking up one morning
With no designation, no client list and no clue
Is a powerful signal to start seeing things differently.
It is a call to the universe that you are ready for a transition and an invitation back to re-open your eyes and ears and inner senses
All the things you forgot how to do while you were racing full speed toward somewhere certain. These are things you have to slow down, even stop, to truly see.
While you are here,
Enjoy the view.
Try not to get lost in your head about social expectations and future fears
When there is waiting for you to see
A magnificent view.
Juna, who created this event
in a way took a chance on a vision for all of us
who attended the event and were
moved, inspired & encouraged.
She acted on our behalf.
That there will be many people who will take a chance on you-
If you’re lucky,
You’ll have a chance to do the same
For someone else who is
who she was and who she is becoming.
In a way, we are all
‘not quite certain’
But then again…
Life isn’t really about certainty.
