A Conversation with Gabriela Maldonado-Montano
Gaby: How’s life?
M: Very Interesting
Gaby: I do not expect anything less from you
And so begins the conversation with one of those people who embodies humility, a light heart and a deep love of humanity.
LIGHTHOUSE Bite-sized inspirations from conversations with friends, mentors and girlfriends extraordinaire It is an attempt to share with you the beauty, thrill and transformative power of simple conversations- to share with you some of the learnings and invite you to reflect and dialogue.

I feel like in every conversation we have she is coaxing me to come out of a fixed way of seeing something. Encouraging me lightly, playfully, to join or rejoin the dance of life.Conversations with Gaby are part confession and part Friday night out- peals of laughter peppered with moments of rich silence and a healthy dose of wishful thinking. From democracy to colour theory- we cover everything. This week’s subjects included a phase of being ‘a little crusader for the principles’, the joy of working with young people, the craziness of calling 15 shades of beige ‘colours’ and more. The piece that most impacted me though was our discussion on social change and progress .
PEOPLE HAVE THE POTENTIAL OF THE UNIVERSE BUILT INTO THEM
We do not need to import solutions into our lives, organizations or nations. Good advice, best practices and global guidelines are useful signposts, but not our only instruments of navigation.Gaby called it “this constant enamourment with somebody else’s wisdom”
Every country has in its people the solutions to all the challenges it faces. The ability to reach out, listen and harness that potential is the key to progress.
