EQ Nuggets

You can listen to the whole conversation and subscribe to Lian’s podcast here but in this post I wanted to excerpt and reflect on my favourite bits. This is part one, about resilience, freedom and the results of that in your life.

What about REAL PROBLEMS?

PS I make several videos a week in response to questions from clients and friends. If there’s anything you’d like a video about in particular or anything you want to hear more about, you can leave me a comment of PM me and I’ll make one in response to that.

SKILLS FOR THE FUTURE- A Manifesto for building the next generation of leaders

Young people are awesome. They can find solutions to many of the challenges facing them and our world. BUT We have a habitual way of treating & interacting with youth (in schools, homes, communities and national platforms) that creates a very good chance they will be sold on the story of jaded and powerless citizens by age 25.

A cubic centimeter of chance

It’s a rare moment when a world opens up to you that you hadn’t seen- or accepted- before. When someone recognizes a potential in you that you hadn’t noticed yourself.

It’s happened to me twice, this kind of distinct, forever memorable moment.

Simple Truths about Big Issues

We have a people problem– thinking of governments, organizations and other institutions as if they exist independent of the people in them- and therefore trying to make changes ‘to the system’ without really affecting the people in it.

ENOUGH

If you’re like most senior leaders you have probably said some version of this many times- to your spouse, parents kids, even to yourself. And if you’re just starting out in your career, there’s a trick in here that you probably haven’t seen yet.

Love- the Only Emotion that Expands Intelligence

We can use our minds and relationships in life giving ways or life destroying ways. The idea that ‘intelligence’ can be anything that diminishes or destroys life is the ultimate fallacy.

To the In-Betweeners

A love note in response to all the women & girls at the Young Entrepreneurs Summit who shuffled their feet, looked nervously around and said “I don’t know what I want to do”, “I’m in transition, I guess”, “I should do something but…”

The Sufficiency Project

It seemed like I had been deeply involved with some work and when I looked up from what I was doing suddenly I saw I was in a flood of all the things I had been habitually piling into my life (and my wardrobe, calendar, suitcases, head). Without realizing, I had been in a life of B.u.s.y.- accumulating, wasting, spending, distracting.
